Donald Glover is live on east village radio with Chillin Island right now
In case you missed it, stream the entire interview over here. Donald and Heems premiere their track together off of Childish Gambino’s upcoming untitled mixtape and Donald briefly talks about the NBC/Dan Harmon fiasco.
Really good, really funny interview

That beat flows hard
I would like to point out that when I mentioned in my post last night how I missed when he would release a single track and it would give me chills.
I must have listened to the live version of this song like 15-20 times but even so
hearing the official version
still chills
The one thing that I gathered from Donald releasing that song is that everyone hasn’t already been listening to it everyday like I’ve been.
I figured guys already had the live version on repeat like me and had the lyrics memorized.
DON’T MAKE ME FEEL WEIRD!
Ditto
My admiration for Donald was never in jeopardy. Even if I didn’t like his last few songs, even if he releases the mixtape and I don’t like a damn thing on there, I’m always going to be his fan. Unless he does something terrible like murdering puppies or DVR’ing Whitney. Then we’ll see.
I’m glad he got all that off his chest and I’m so grateful for this new song.
Ditto. Last night was the first time that I ever felt like I was in a place where he made something that didn’t make me happy and ecstatic. I was never in a place where I was ready to throw in the towel. He’s my hero. I’m dedicated to his art (and I’m contracted obligated to love him).
Same with Gym Class Heroes. Even though PCC II was not a good album in my opinion I’ll never forget what their music has done for and too me.

That was completely necessary
I feel comfortable again @donaldglover. Very comfortable
I wonder if Gambino knows how many of his fans are so pro-creativity and the arts;
That many of us are aspiring writers, artists, film makers, musicians, comediennes.
And I wonder if he knows that his music fuels us and helps us go hard when we kind of feel limp.
I wonder if he’s read, seen, listened, or looked at any of our work and thought
Damn, these are the people I want to make music for.

Maxwell of Saturday Night Online recently interviewed Donald Glover.
Donald answered a few Twitter questions including: what kind of phone he owns, whether or not he uses Instagram, who his musical guilty pleasure is, who he would be shocked to find out is a Childish Gambino fan, and who has the nicer booty between Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj.
He also talked about the Heartbeat and Freaks and Geeks music videos, expressed his love for his dedicated fans, and gave Forever Childish (this blog) a shout-out!
This is a very good interview…
Unneccesary
So when Eat Your Vegetables came out I noticed a difference in Donald’s music.
I didn’t hate it. I really liked it. He’s been making music for longer than most people have been aware of. I felt that lyrically, he wasn’t saying anything he wouldn’t say in Poindexter or Sick Boi so I accepted it. I recognized that even before that track came out some fans were divided because he changed in some ways. I still stuck by him because you know, he does everything. He’s busy so he can’t keep up with everything. I shrugged off what everyone was saying about him cause I mean, I have the dudes autograph tattooed on my arm lol, he’s my idol so I’m inclined to stick up for him or ignore hate right?
So he performed The Switch tracks and I loved them. Wasn’t too hot on “Make Em Mad” but once again, didn’t hate it. Fuck Yo Blog leaked and of course I was all about that.
Then this track came out…
I remember him saying in an interview recently that he wanted to get better.
Better at what though?
He was already, in my opinion. One of the best rappers in the universe.
I remember hearing New Prince (Crown on the Ground) which is the first song I heard from him (aside from The Stand) and I was freaking out cause its like, who is this dude goin in over Sleigh Bells. Then I heard the rest of his stuff and from that point on I was pro Gambino.
Every single song he released after Culdesac was magic. Like chills, constant plays, always.
I remember hearing his verse on Rolling in the Deep and hearing Break (AOTL) the first time. I was like, Donald’s going places musically and I want people to know who he is. His music came at a time for me when I needed to hear what he had to say.
But this is the first time, I’ve ever heard a song from him that I didn’t like instantly. It’ll grow on me sure, I’ll listen to it. I’ll memorize the lyrics, because I’m a good fan an I’ll support him until he gives up but honestly…
I miss getting chills when he released a single track.
I was listening to his albums the other day and I started serieously thinking about what he said about getting better. I was like…how can he even get any better? I remember when I fell in love with his music…he could do no wrong.
This track was properly named
cause it was totally unneccesary
He’s not growing as an artist, he’s growing as a rapper and that’s not necessarily a good thng.
sigh.
